Marcie Hart Profile Photo
Marcie Hart, 54, of Westminster, MD, went to her final resting place on October 28th, 2017, after a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Born October 22, 1963 in McKeesport, PA, the daughter of Michael and Hazel Manclark, Marcie was a 1981 graduate of Penn-Trafford High School and a 1985 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. She most recently worked at the Taneytown branch of the Carroll County Public Library and, prior to that, the Carroll County Public Schools as a media clerk. When her illness forced her to resign from her library position, Marcie continued to volunteer when she could and shared her love of books with others. Marcie was an active parishioner at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Westminster and cherished fellowship with her faith family. She enjoyed crafting beautiful greeting cards, voraciously reading, and spending time with family and friends.
Through the grace of God, along with her tremendous spirit and perseverance, Marcie completed her bucket list on September 7, 2017 by attending the Depeche Mode concert in Washington, DC. Her other bucket list accomplishments included earning her Master of Library Science degree, witnessing the breathtaking Northern Lights in Iceland, sightseeing on an Alaskan cruise that included a picturesque land tour, exploring Harry Potter World in Orlando, FL with her family, and visiting Monroeville, AL, the birthplace of Harper Lee, author of one of her favorite books, To Kill a Mockingbird.
Even after all of her accomplishments and fulfilling her bucket list, Marcie’s greatest accomplishment in life was her family. She loved and was fiercely loved by all of her family. She prided herself on being a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, and aunt. Her family meant a great deal to her as she did to them.
There are no words that adequately express how much Marcie and her family have appreciated the outpouring of support throughout her illness and there is not enough space to individually name each person. Thank you to all of the extended family members, friends both near and far, Thursday Teal Troopers, neighbors, church family, former co-workers, Frederick Oncology, hospice staff, and volunteers who lent a hand. Your words of encouragement, prayers, willingness to be escorts on errands and doctor appointments, friendly visits, prepared meals, cards, flowers, and gifts always brought a smile to Marcie’s face. She was truly humbled by all of these gestures.
A Gathering of Friends will be held Wednesday, November 1, 2017 6 to 8 PM at the Burrier Queen Funeral Home and Crematory P.A. 1212 West Old Liberty Road Winfield, MD 21784. Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2017 11 :00 AM 833 Deer Park Rd, Westminster, MD 21157 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Westminster, MD with Deacon Melissa Helfer officiating. It is Marcie’s wish that visitors “Come as you are.” In lieu of flowers, Marcie requested that memorial donations be made to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (NOCC) or to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
