Marjorie Freebourn 2-15-1940:
With deep sorrow, we announce that our dear mother, Marjorie Ann Deffenbaugh Freebourn, went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, October 12th after battling cancer for many years and more intensely for the past 8 months. She was born in Uniontown, PA to her parents Clinton and Edna Deffenbaugh on February 15, 1940. Most of her 83 years of life were lived in the Erie area. Throughout her life, she performed many roles including homemaker, secretary, nurse's aide, school bus driver, and waitress, but most of us will remember her as the best mom, sister and friend ever. Her life’s desire was to be remembered as someone who loved God and loved people. She sought to do God’s will and to care for ALL people.
She is survived by her 5 children and their spouses; Jeffery Bradford, Dawn Bradford Pickett, Mark Bradford, Michelle Bradford Hooper and Bonnie Bradford Platz; 19 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and her 2 sisters; Carolyn Carner and Sandra Feidler.
She loved to do all kinds of crafts, especially quilting. Her hands were never idle; always knitting, crocheting, sewing, baking, cooking or quilting. She belonged to the Hands All Around Erie Quilt Guild and was a member of Millcreek Community Church. Throughout her life, she was a part of a church and served in many children’s ministries even into her 70’s. She was a prayer warrior and loved reading and studying the Bible. One of her favorite passages that she lived by was First Thessalonians 5:16-18, “Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” Her primary desire was to see all of her loved ones again in heaven.
Please join us in celebrating the life of love she lived on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Millcreek Community Church in Erie PA. The family will receive friends from 1-3 pm and the Celebration Memorial service will follow from 3-4 pm.
We want to give a special thanks to all of you who showered our mom with meals, visits, flowers, encouraging text messages, calls and a constant flow of cards. In addition, we are so grateful for BridgingLife Hospice and their amazing care for our mom. Her nurse, Corinne, and her nurse’s aide, Kim, were such a blessing to all of us. Others at BridgingLife who lovingly cared for my mom include Melanie, Nicole, Jennifer, Kelly, Karen, April and Cindy.
