Mark Thomas Blue, 60 of Owings Mills, MD passed away on January 2, 2024, at his home.
Mark was the devoted husband of Christy Frost-Blue.
He was born March 1, 1963, in Cherry Hill, NJ, the son of Olive F. Blue and the late John A. Blue.
Mark grew up in Greenbelt, MD, and enjoyed playing sports for the city teams. The Blue family spent many years swimming for Greenbelt and other area teams year-round. Mark graduated from Eleanor Roosevelt and left for the United States Marine Corps. He served in Parris Island, SC; San Diego, CA, Okinawa Japan and trained in the Philippines. Post service Mark worked in construction helping to build Greenbelt Elementary and many houses and buildings around Maryland. Mark changed hats and became a Chef. He became co-owner of The Blue Cow Café in Thunderhill, Columbia, MD and worked at several area restaurants and retirement communities. Mark was devoted to his family and loyal to his many friends. His laid-back sense of humor made him a friend to many.
Surviving in addition to his wife and mother is his daughter Shannon Blue-Fields (Amber) his bonus children Ashley Frost (Antonio Faust), Mason Frost (Kaitlin) and Parker Frost (Raven); 7 bonus grandchildren; brother Kenneth J. Blue (Dorie) and sister Lynda Blue Jackson (Bruce); in laws Paul and Deanna Wehrman and a goddaughter Olivia Jackson. Also survived by 5 nephews and 4 nieces.
Gathering of friends and family will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024, from 11 AM to 12 Noon, with a celebration of Life service starting at 12 Noon at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A. 1212 West Old Liberty Road Sykesville, MD 21784 (beside South Carroll High School). The family asks that you wear a Hawaiian shirt because that was when Mark was the happiest. Funeral service will be live streamed starting at 11:50 AM.
