Mark C. Fleming, Sr.
Mark Clinton Fleming, Sr., age 78, of Mount Airy, died Tuesday September 18, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was surrounded by loved ones including a nephew, Douglas Fleming. Born August 14, 1940, in Watersville, MD. He was the son of the late John Edgar Fleming, Sr. and Mary Catherine (Brightwell) Fleming. Mark was a graduate of Lisbon High in 1958. He was preceded in death by his brothers Randolph Brightwell and John Fleming.
He served in the Maryland National Guard. He was a life member of the Lisbon Volunteer Fire Company. He was a Construction Superintendent for Manny Holtz in Wheaton, MD. His hobbies included building furniture, fishing, NASCAR, attending The World of Outlaw races, and helping children care for livestock as well as supporting the local 4H livestock sale. He could always be found with his faithful canine companion, Tia.
Surviving is his brother, Frank Fleming of PA, many nephews and nieces, and a son, Mark C. Fleming Jr., of Arkansas. Services will be held at Burrier-Queen in Sykesville. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, September 24, from 10-11. Funeral to follow immediately at 11 AM. Interment Poplar Springs Cemetery.
