Martha Ann Mullinix Embrey, 77, of Mt. Airy, Died Tuesday October 21, 2014, at Carroll Hospital Center, Westminster, after a brief Illness
She was born February 22, 1937 in Woodbine, MD Howard County; she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth E. Poole Mullinix and the late Spencer J. Mullinix. She was the wife of Paul Bernard Embrey, her husband of 58 years.
She graduated from Lisbon High School in 1955 and attended the Peabody Conservatory after graduation. She worked at Vitro, drove a bus for Eyre Bus Service, worked for United States Postal Service working in Lisbon, Woodbine, and Glenelg offices. She retired in 1997 after 25 years. She enjoyed cooking, entering baked goods in the Howard County Fair, doing crossword puzzles, going to church and sending time with her family. She was a lifetime member of Lisbon United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school, served on various committees and sang in the church choir.
Surviving her in addition to her husband are three sons: Richard M. Embrey of Sheridan, Wyoming, Keith A. Embrey and wife Kay of Hagerstown, Scott E. Embrey and wife Robyn of Woodbine, grandchildren Ryan and wife Jennifer Embrey, Michael Embrey, Heather and husband Brian Miller, Justin and wife Jami Embrey, Amber and husband Barry Shatzer, Megan and Carrie Embrey; 10 great grandchildren, a brother Richard S. and wife Charlotte Mullinix, Sister Elmira Seibert and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased in death by sisters Minnie Bell Hanigan and Gloria Irvin as well as daughter-in-law Kathy Embrey.
The Family will receive friends on Friday, October 24, 2014 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at BURRIER-QUEEN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, P.A., 1212 W. Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784.
