Marvin Gartrell

Marvin Edward “Pete” Gartrell, age 81, of Mt. Airy, died, Monday July 23, 2012 at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster, MD. He was born in Woodbine, MD on January 11, 1931 the son of the late Tolley Edward Gartrell and the late Amanda Duvall Gartrell. He was the husband of Erma Jane Gartrell (nee Porter) of Mt. Airy, MD for 60 years. He was proud to have served in the US Air Force for 4 years. While in the Air Force, he traveled to Guam and Hawaii and was stationed in the states of Texas and Washington. He was a Retired sign foreman for State Highway Administration. He was a lifelong member of Morgan Chapel U.M. Church in Woodbine, he enjoyed and raised Beagles, he loved hunting, gardening and, mowing the grass. He enjoyed the Baltimore Orioles and was a Baltimore Ravens fan. He was the father of Kim Gartrell Endres of Mt. Airy, Tammy A. Duvall of Woodbine and Tony M. Gartrell and wife Judy of Mt. Airy. Brother of Martha Gosnell and husband Russell of Woodbine. Predeceased by son in law- Harry “Junior” Duvall. Grandfather of- Jennifer Duvall, Jason Endres, Jacob Duvall, Justin Gartrell and Joshua Gartrell. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Sykesville, MD (Beside South Carroll High School) on Thursday from 3-5 & 7-9 PM, where Funeral Service will be held Friday, July 27, 2012 at 1:30 PM with Pastor Art Monroe officiating. Interment Morgan Chapel U.M. Church Cemetery, Woodbine, MD.
