Mary Pearl Russell, 92, of Baltimore, died Wednesday, October 7, 2015, at the Glen Burnie Health & Rehabilitation Center, after a lengthy illness.
Born May 4, 1923, in Woodbine, MD, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Mary Evelyn Welsh. She married Ralph E. Russell in Baltimore on Nov 28, 1942. Ralph and Mary met while she was working at Gwynn Oak drugstore. They moved to Crisfield, MD, in 1982 following Ralph’s retirement from the Baltimore Transit Company.
Mary worked with her houseplants, cared for many children, including foster children. She camped with her family and cooked for everyone and anyone who was around.
Surviving are sister Bessie Turnbaugh of Westminster; son Robert R. Russell of Baltimore; daughter Mary A. Evans of Odenton; twelve grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Ralph; brothers William, James, and Frank Welsh; and sons William E. and Ronald L. Russell.
Graveside services and interment will be held 3pm Monday, October 12, 2015 at the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Winfield, with the Rev. Arthur Monroe officiating.
