Melville R. Mitzel, Sr., age 81, formerly of Woodstock, died Thursday, February 14, 2013 at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster, MD.
He was born December 16, 1931 in Baltimore, MD the son of the late Harry Parker Mitzel, Sr. and the late Edna Augusta Mitzel (nee Hinkle).
He was a veteran of the US Marine Corp. serving in the Marine Corp. Rifle Team. He enjoyed playing golf and being with his family.
He was the husband of Ethel Mae Mitzel (nee Harris) of Westminster.
He was the father of Patricia Parks and husband Andrew, Melville Mitzel, Jr. and wife Ruthann, and Scott Mitzel and wife Kimberly.
Also survived by 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School) on Saturday, February 16, 2013 from 10:00am-12:00 Noon at which time funeral service will begin at 12:00 Noon, with the Rev. Walter Peters of 1st Presbyterian Church of Westminster officiating.
Interment Poplar Grove U.M. Church Cemetery, 13600 Poplar Hill Road, Phoenix, MD 21131.
