Michael John Katafiasz 54 of Mount Airy, MD passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2018, quietly at home surrounded by his loved ones.
Beloved husband of Maureen Moriarty.
Born July 14, 1963 in Michigan, the son of Virginia and the late Raymond Katafiasz.
Michael was a Navy veteran and a retired Captain in the Howard County Fire and Rescue Service. He was a member of Saint Joseph’s Catholic Community in Eldersburg, Maryland.
Devoted father of Kathryn Sheehan, Hanna Marie Sheehan (Makmiller Pedroso), Samantha Katafiasz, Ellen Sheehan, Jacob Katafiasz, Benjamin Katafiasz and Patrick Katafiasz.
Dear brother of Mark and wife Dianna, sister Lori and husband Julian, and sister Lynn and husband Dan.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Community 915 Liberty Road, Eldersburg, Maryland 21784 at 11am on Saturday, January 27, 2018.
The family will receive friends after the service at their home from 12:30pm to 5pm.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made in Michael’s name to Gilchrist Hospice, 11311 McCormick Road Suite 350 Hunt Valley, Maryland 21031 (designated to the “area of Greatest Need”). Donations may also be made on the Gilchrist website.
