Michael Wade Sirk, 62, of Mount Airy, MD, died Saturday, August 5, 2017, as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Although tragic, he died doing what he loved. Born in Olney, MD, November 10, 1954, he was the son of the late Jean Sirk and the late Raymond Sirk.

Mike was the loving husband of Mary Anne Sirk, his wife of 44 years. In addition to his wife, Mike is survived by his two daughters, Michele Kennedy and son-in-law Alexis Fuenzalida; Kelly Pare and companion Donnie Franklin; three granddaughters that were the light of his life, Amber Kennedy (Wormy), Skyler Pare (Pop-Tart), and Sierra Pare (Sierro’s); his brother, Warren Sirk and wife Peggy; his sister, Linda Main; brother-in-law and best friend Robert Hedlund; special niece Lisa Kidwell and husband John; great nieces Brianna and Erin Kidwell as well as his loving aunt, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Hedlund.

Mike meant so much to so many. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, but could have fun with his rival supporters, no matter the outcome. He loved motorcycles, classic cars, playing horseshoes, a good game of pool, and an ice cold beer. He was always the life of the party and instantly became a friend to everyone he met. Mike would do anything for anybody and was always the first person to lend a hand whenever it was needed. From car problems to carpentry projects, Mike would do his best, although sometimes it didn’t turn out quite as planned. He might install a ceiling fan, turn on the switch, and the toilet would flush, but that just added to his love of life.

His love of his family and friends was beyond measure. He was a pleasure to be around, and that was obvious by the number of people whose lives he touched. Mike never met a stranger. He always had a smile on his face and knew how to make people laugh. As his oldest granddaughter said, he was a trooper, a lover, a fighter, but most importantly a family man. Mike was a man with a warm heart, a wicked sense of humor, and an unerring love of life. Lynyrd Skynyrd once sang the words, “If I leave here tomorrow; would you still remember me?” Mike, the answer from everyone you touched is a resounding “yes”.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm, Friday, August 11, at Burrier Queen Funeral Home, 1212 West Old Liberty Road, Sykesville, MD. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 pm, Saturday, August 12 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Irvin Martin officiating. Interment will be at True Gospel Cemetery, Lisbon, MD.
