Midge Lee Thomas of Mount Airy, MD, passed from this life on Sunday, January 7, 2024. Born July 18, 1940, in Mount Airy, MD, she was the daughter of the late Ridgley Robinson and Rose Lee (nee Butler) Warden and step-father, Howard Warden. Her grandparents, Grafton and Goldie Dorsey, also helped to raise her. She was the loving wife of Robert “Bud” Thomas, Sr. until his death on August 24, 2007.
Midge graduated from Robert Moton School in Westminster, MD and was one of the founding members of the Former Students and Friends of Robert Moton School, Inc., which provides scholarships to graduating high school students in Carroll County. She was employed by Random House in Westminster, MD for many years and later retired as a manager for Blimpie’s in Mount Airy.
Over her lifetime, she worshipped at several churches in the area including Fairview United Methodist Church, Warren United Methodist Church, Simpson Christian Community Church, and Grace and Truth Bible Fellowship.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Robin Johnson (Harry) of Mount Airy; daughter-in-law, Sandra Thomas of Jessup,MD; granddaughters Niya Yeboah (Emmanuel) of Mount Airy, Rhianna Florian (Ben) of Jessup, MD; grandsons Rhaashan (Jylinda) of Annandale, VA and Brian Johnson of Baltimore, MD; great grandchildren William-Joseph and Mirabel Ariel Yeboah, Mason, Ben and Justin Florian, Justin and Blake Johnson and numerous other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother (Charles Warden), and son (Robert H. Thomas, Jr.).
Midge loved to travel. She often went on vacations to Ocean City, MD, Myrtle Beach, SC, Orlando, FL, Chincoteague Island, VA and even traveled to Cancun Mexico. Some of her favorite pastimes were reading, dancing, fishing and shopping.
Back in the day, her home in “Dorseytown” was the house that all of the neighborhood young kids would migrate to. It was also a welcoming place for many other friends and neighbors who would often visit.
Midge Lee Thomas will be dearly missed, but her spirit, humor, and unwavering love will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. She created a warm and nurturing environment that made each family member feel incredibly special. Her legacy of love and devotion will continue to resonate through the generations.

Funeral arrangements are being coordinated by Burrier-Queen Funeral Home, 1212 West Old Liberty Road, Winfield, MD: Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 16 at 10 a.m. and funeral services at the same location at 11 a.m. Interment will be private at a later date.
