Neuman Eldred Bankert, Sr., 94 of Westminster, MD died Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at the Dove House in Westminster, MD
Born April 10, 1920 in Carroll County, he was the son of the late Edgar and Mary Wisner Bankert. He was the husband of Anna Fischer Bankert, his wife of 67 years.
He was a carpenter by trade and after retirement took up oil painting, many of which were displayed and sold at various craft shows. He served in the US Army during World War II in the 267th Separate Coast Artillery Battalion of Alaska Defense Command.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by son Neuman E. Bankert, Jr. and wife Jo Ann of Columbia, daughter Susan Six and husband Brett of Taneytown, grandchildren Melissa Talbot and husband Aaron, Matthew Bankert and wife Bethany, Melody Bankert, Mark Bankert and wife Heather, Bethany Six and Scott Six and great-grandchildren, Wesley, Vivienne, and Maxwell Talbot, Laura Bankert and Fischer Bankert.
He was predeceased by son Terry Bankert, brothers Celester, Robert, Harlan, and Evan Bankert. He was the last of his immediate family.
The Family will receive friends on Friday, September 19, 2014 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at BURRIER-QUEEN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD (Beside S. Carroll High). Where Funeral Services will take place Saturday September 20, 2014 11 AM with the Rev. Michael Dubsky of Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will be in Highland View Cemetery in Berrett.
