Paul Merson

Paul Wesley Merson, age 84, of Boonsboro MD died April 1st, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Paul was married to Jacquelyn Marie Dant, from Louisville, KY. for 35 years.
Paul was born in Jessup, MD, on November 13th, 1939.
Paul was a faithful church member of Emmanuel Baptist Temple in Hagerstown, MD, where he loved teaching Sunday School for many years.
Paul was a self-employed brick mason for over 50 years. One of His joys in life was working alongside his family, whether it was on a job site laying brick, in the woods cutting firewood, butchering hogs on a cold January day, or in the garden all spring, summer, and fall.
Paul's greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. The last thing he would always say when you left him was “Why you got to leave so soon, come back when you can.” He had seven sons and one daughter, and one was his favorite and he made them all think it was them. He also loved it when his wife Jackie arranged for all the family to go to the beach at the Outer Banks together.
Paul faced many trials in his life that he wouldn’t talk about, but he would tell you that the one thing that kept him pressing on was his faith and trust in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! Paul received Jesus as his savior at 28 years of age. After attending Faith Bible Church in Elkridge MD and hearing pastor Clayton Crooks pray, Paul went home and told his wife that he wanted to have a relationship with God so he could fellowship with God like that pastor. His wife told him that the only way to have a relationship with God was through Jesus. After hearing that his good deeds were as filthy rags, he bowed his knees, called on Jesus to forgive him of his sin, and received Jesus as his savior. He was soon baptized at Faith Bible Church by Pastor Crooks, which led to the rest of the family doing the same.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 35 years, Jacquelyn Marie (nee Dant) Merson; is his son Vance Wesley Merson and wife Lisa, of Mt. Airy, MD; son Mark Bee Merson of Boonsboro, MD; son Matthew Quintin Merson and Wife Catherine, of Westminster, MD; daughter Paula Leslie Allnutt and husband Christopher, of Mt. Airy, MD; Dennis Wayne Merson and wife Sherri, of Gaithersburg, MD; son Paul Clayton Merson and wife Emily, of Martinsburg, WV; son James Nathan Merson, of Boonsboro, MD.
He was preceded in death by his son Timothy Aaron Merson, first wife Laura (nee Burns) Merson, brother James; sisters Bertha, Adelaide, and Shirley.
