Peggy Stanifer
August 23, 1939 — August 21, 2024
Peggy Ann Stanifer, born August 23,1939, was 84 of Gaithersburg Maryland, passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at 9:30 PM in her home with her daughter and granddaughter by her side.
She is survived by her daughter, Kecia Rhea Little, Son-in-law, Stephen Little, and her 3 grandchildren, Alexandra, Rachel, and Adam. Mollie and JC Waddell, Jason Waddell, Bennie Mae Brock, and Jade Waddell Slover and Larry Slover are her Tennessee family.
After high school, Peggy traveled to Iceland as a USO singer for our American troops. Peggy was a pillar of strength for her family. Upon returning, she was needed to help support her mother and two younger sisters, so she immediately began her career as a telephone switchboard operator. She succeeded quickly in her professional field to become an executive secretary for the City of Gaithersburg, where she retired. She had a wonderful and fulfilling career there. She lived in Gaithersburg for more than 50 years. Throughout her life, she was unbelievably caring for those around her. Her perseverance and resilience as a mom was unmatched. Her love and generosity towards her grandchildren was never ending. She adored being so close to her daughter, and treasured living surrounded by Kecia’s family. She enjoyed cross stitching, sewing projects, and was an a vivid reader of history and mystery. Her willingness to listen and her storytelling always showed her compassion and love for others. Her smile and laughter will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Monday, August 26, 2024 from 12 Noon to 1 PM ar which time the funeral service will begin at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A. 1212 West Old Liberty Road Sykesville, MD 21784 (Beside South Carroll High School).
Interment to follow at Highland View Cemetery/Messiah Lutheran Church.
Following the Interment everyone is welcome back to the Little's house for refreshments.
