Philip N. Lages, age 89, of Rockdale, MD died Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Gilchrist Hospice Center in Towson, MD. He was the spouse of Helen H. Lages (nee Harrison) for 69 years. He was born in Hebbville, MD on May, 19, 1926. He would have been 90 yrs. old this year, the son of the late Donallen Nelson Lages and the late Anna Marie Uebel Lages He was employed at Green Spring Dairy and proud of the fact that he only missed one day in all those years.
He was a lifelong member of St. James Ev. Lutheran Church, coordinator of the Catonsville HS Class of 1943 reunions committee, a veteran of the United States Army Air force, baseball coach for Liberty Road Baseball and Milts Softball team in Sykesville MD. He loved watching his grandchildren play rec and scholastic sports. He was a season ticket holder for the 1950s-70's Baltimore Colts. Avid Oriole and Ravens Fan and reading the Sunpapers sports column every morning.
Surviving relatives include a sister, Betty Ann Robinson, daughters Barbara J. Lages and Claudia L. Fischer and husband Ted F. Fischer, grandchildren Matt Fischer and wife Chrissie V. Fischer and Mandy Fischer. Great grandchildren Maggie, Matthew and Charles Philip Fischer.
Additionally and very important to him were his nieces and nephews, David and Nancy Baker, Dale and Gail Baker, Diane Garro, JoAnn Taylor and Opie Ricker, Bill and Allyson Taylor, Linda and Bob Klein, Wayne Lages, Don Lages, Connie Taylor, Bob and Marsha Garner, Gaye and Jay Berry, and Bob Douglas and Candace Chandler. Friends Ken and Pam Koehler.
He was predeceased by his siblings and spouses Virginia and Bob Baker, Eileen and Bob Garner and Roland and Mildred Lages and nephew Dennis Lages
The family will receive guests on Sunday, May, 15, 2016 at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA., 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Sykesville, MD 21784 from 3-5 p.m. A memorial service is being planned at a later date. Interment is private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to support a summer baseball camp for underprivileged children being conducted by police officers of the Baltimore County Police, Dundalk precinct.
