Portia Ann Hood, 62 of Buffalo Rd. Mt. Airy, MD
Passed away on Friday, February 12, 2016 after dancing with cancer since 2009.
Born August 6, 1953 in Mt. Airy, MD the daughter of the late Carl Richard Hood and Late Wilma Bernice (Etzler) Hood. She is survived by one sister, Vicki Lynn Hodgkins and husband Denis of Mt. Airy, niece Ashley Victoria and husband Kenny Rippeon of Libertytown, nephew Andrew Carl Hodgkins and companion Rachel of Mt. Airy. She is also survived by longtime friend and traveling companion, Debbie Jean Herring of Vienna, VA and her adopted family May, Chris and Alaina Claire Cunningham Rowe of Sharpsburg, MD plus many cousins and friends. She worked for over 35 years with developmentally disabled adults at Scott Key Center in Frederick, MD. Those folks were the loves of her life! Her favorite places to be were the Chesapeake Bay and Cape Hatteras, NC. She was very proud sponsor of P.A. Hood Barrel Racing.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 20, 2016 11 AM with the family receiving friends 1 hour prior beginning 10 AM at Locust Grove Church of the Brethren 13356 Glissans Mill Rd. Mt. Airy, MD Interment Prospect Cemetery, Mt. Airy, MD. Online Condolences at www.burrier-queen.com
