Richard Donald Flowers, age 86, formerly of Randallstown, MD, died Wednesday July 15, 2015 at Home in Ephrata, PA.
He was born February 19, 1929 in Randallstown, MD, the son of the late Emory H. Flowers and the late Etta Elizabeth Flowers (nee Cadle).
Husband of Julia L. “Judy” Flowers (nee Frazier).
Don attended Randallstown Elementary School, graduated from Catonsville High School in 1946, and attended Baltimore Community College from 1948-1950; served in the US Marines from 1946-1948; then began Don Flowers Florist in 1950 and Liberty Wholesale Florist in 1975; Served on the National Board of Directors Florist Transworld Delivery Association from 1971-1980, Vice President of FTDA 1974-1975, President of FTDA 1975-1976, served on Interflora Board (international Floral network) 1976-1981, Vice President Interflora Board 1980, served on several national committees for the Society of American Florists, served as a Trustee American Floral Endowment, chairman 1995-1996, President of Southern Retail Florist Association 1986; 40 year member of Randallstown Lions Club, served as president 3 years, member of Fairfield Lions club 15 years, Trustee of Baltimore County Hospital Foundation, President of Baltimore County Hospital Foundation 1971-1972, member of Board of Baltimore County Hospital, and later Northwest Hospital System, chairman of the Board 1994-1996, Lifelong member of Mt. Olive U.M. Church in Randallstown, attended Mt. Hope UMC Fairfield, PA 1993-2008, attended St. Paul’s UMC Terre Hill, PA 2008-2015.
Devoted father of Donna Lynne Flowers-Doyle and husband Larry and Lawrence Gregory Flowers; dear brother of Janet Flowers Ramsey, also survived by 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by siblings Ken Flowers, Elizabeth (Betty) Cardell, Maurice Flowers and Virginia Washam.
Friends may call at the Mt. Olive U.M. Church, 5115 Old Court Road, Randallstown, on Monday from 7-9 PM and Tuesday from 3-5 & 7-9 PM; and Wednesday, July 22, 2015 from 10:00-11:00 AM, at which time service will begin at the church, Interment Mt.
