He was the spouse of Anna M. (Ruston) Merkel, Mr. Merkel was born April 19, 1930 in Des Moines, Iowa the son of the late Paul Henry Merkel and the late Estella Dreitzler Merkel.
He was a Baptist Minister for over 50 years at various churches including 1st Baptist is Thompson, PA, Grace Baptist , Laurel, MD, ABWE Mission Board, Community Bible Church Highland, MD, Delmarva Baptist Missionary’s for 11 years.
Surviving in addition to his wife are Daughter and Son-in-law Annajoe and Ronald Burke of Ilion, NY, Son and Daughter-in-law Richard and Deborah Merkel of Woodbine, Daughter and Son-in-law Sandra and Gary Francis of Wilkes-Barre, PA, Son and Daughter-in-law James and Diana Merkel of Port Charlotte, FL , Son and Daughter-in-law Matthew and Misty Merkel of Salt Lake City, Utah.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, October 17, 2015 11 AM at Calvary Baptist Church, 3200 Ridge Rd. Westminster, MD 21157
Inurnment was PRIVATE at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery, Owings Mills, MD
