Richard L. Miller, Dickie to family and friends, of Union Bridge, MD, passed suddenly on Saturday, March 9th. Richard was a beloved and devoted husband, father and grandfather. His passing will be mourned by his wife of 52 years Helen Miller, his daughter Michele Strohm and husband Wayne, his son Kenny Miller and wife Holly, and his grandchildren Matt Crook, Miller Strohm, Katlyn Strohm, Rylie Miller and Tyler Miller. He is also survived by his sister Pat Long, brother Ken Miller and many nephews and nieces. Richard was preceded in death by his father and mother Dorey and Virginia Miller, brother David Miller, sister Barbara Wiles and brother Charles Miller.
Richard was a man of many skills. A truck driver and painter by trade, Richard was most proud of his time as an Officer with the Carroll County Humane Society. Richard retired in the mid 90’s.
Richard had a strong sense of family. He believed there was nothing more important. He would often look forward to family dinners and celebrations. Richard could quite frequently be found on the sidelines of one of his grandchildren’s many sporting events being their biggest fan!
Richard was an avid Elvis fan. He enjoyed Gunsmoke, American muscle cars, Keno, scratch offs, and the occasional trip to the casino with Helen. Richard enjoyed playing the guitar and singing for his close family.
Visitation will be held Wednesday March 13th 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home located at 1212 West Old Liberty Rd. Winfield MD 21784. Final services will be Thursday March 14th 11am at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home with interment at Creagerstown Cemetery located at 8619 Blacks Mill Rd, Thurmont MD 21788. Family will be hosting a luncheon in Richard’s honor immediately following interment at New Midway Fire Hall.
