Richard H. Stine, 81, of Mt. Airy, MD, died Monday June 10, 2013 at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore. Born August 22, 1931 in Walkersville, MD, he was the spouse of the late Nancy J. Reck Stine, and son of the late Helen F. Warner Stine and Chester W. Stine, Sr.
Mr. Stine was in the computer industry for most of his career and enjoyed farming. He was retired from Moore Business Communications in Thurmont. He was a graduate of Walkersville High School, and a member of the Locust Grove Church of the Brethren. Mr. Stine served during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Air Force, and was co-founder of the Mt. Airy Civil Air Patrol. He was a member of, and held several offices in, AFSM International for over 20 years.
Surviving are his son Shaun D. and wife Kelly Stine of Japan and Williamsburg, Va; brother Chester W. Stine, Jr. of New Oxford, Pa; sister Linda K. Stine of Frederick, Md; granddaughters Katherine Garten of Williamsburg, Va, and Margaret Garten of Shacklefords, Va; great-grandchildren Anton Stanislav Vorotnev of Williamsburg, Va, and Mckenzie Marie Hughes of Shacklefords, Va. Preceded in death by brother Nelson Stine.
The Family will receive friends on Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at BURRIER-QUEEN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784. Funeral Services will be held Monday June 17, 2013 11 AM with viewing one hour prior beginning at 10 AM at Locust Grove Church of the Brethren, 13356 Glissans Mill Rd. Mt. Airy, MD 21771. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.
