Robert Stephen Davis (Steve), 65, of Mt. Airy, MD passed away from cancer on Thursday,
September 26, 2024 at University of Maryland Medical Center, the same hospital where he was
born.

He was born on April 21, 1959, the son of Joyce Davis and the late Robert Davis.

He was the loving husband of Joanne Lee Davis for 42 years.

Steve was a graduate of Westminster High School (1977) and Towson University (1981). He
was a dedicated employee of the Social Security Administration, where he served as a social
insurance specialist and technical expert for 33 ½ years until his retirement in 2015.

He was an active member of his community, serving on the Board of Trustees and
Mission/Outreach Committee at Ebenezer United Methodist Church and volunteering with the
food pantry. A proud member of the Taylorsville-Winfield Lions Club, he enjoyed volunteering at
the Winfield Carnival and visiting local elementary schools with the flag program. He also
volunteered at Winfield Elementary School in the classrooms of his wife and daughter. A lifelong
fan of the Baltimore Orioles, Baltimore Colts and Ravens, he enjoyed going to and watching
games with friends and family. His love of sports extended to coaching his daughter’s softball
team and helping at their swim meets. He liked working on projects at his home and the homes
of his daughters.

He was the loving and devoted father of daughters Julie Marie Swartz and husband Craig of
Emmitsburg, MD and Heidi Lee Francella and husband Joe of Baltimore, MD. A devoted brother
to Gary Davis and wife Patti of Westminster, MD and proud uncle to niece Emily (Winter
Gardens, FL).

Predeceased by his father, mother-in-law Betty Fullerton, and nephew Jordan Davis.

The family will receive friends at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 4901 Woodbine Road, Sykesville, MD on Saturday, October 5 at 2 PM. Services by the Taylorsville-Winfield Lions Club and Rev. Judith Emerson will begin at 3:30 PM, with interment at church cemetery and luncheon to follow.
