Roger Lee Lafferty, age 74, of Mt Airy, entered his heavenly home, on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at Johns Hopkins Hospital, after a short illness. He was surrounded by his immediate family when he gained his angel wings.

Born July 24, 1944 in Meyersdale, PA., the son of Ray Silas Lafferty and Thelma Lorene Lafferty (Poorbaugh).

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Barbara Lee Lafferty and brother-in-law, Ricky Michael.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, the former, Janet Ann Martin; and these children: Laura Beall and husband, David; Kelli Jenkins and husband, Bill; Christina Smith and husband Leroy; grandchildren; Miriah Trail and fiancé Josh Messinger, Ava Jenkins, Olivia Jenkins and Wyatt Smith; great-granddaughter; Aurora Messinger. He is also survived by a sister, Connie Sloniger and husband John, brother-in laws; James Martin and wife Margie; Robert Martin; sister-in law, Ruth Smith and husband Steven and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Lafferty most recently worked for Puente Consultant as a reviewer of plans for state highway contracts. For over 50 years, Mr. Lafferty worked in bridge and road construction as a Superintendent and reviewer of plans. Many of these years were at Interstate Bridge, Haverhill Construction and Dewey Jordan Inc. Mr. Lafferty was a Deacon and dedicated member of Locust Grove Church of the Brethren. He was a member of the Linganore Grange. He spent much of his life hunting, gardening and helping others.

Friends will be received Sunday, September 30, 2018 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784.

Funeral services will take place Monday, October 1, 2018 11 AM at Locust Grove Church of the Brethren, 13356 Glissans Mill Rd. Mt. Airy, MD 21771. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Locust Grove Church of the Brethren.
