Russell Denney

Russell E. Denney 84 of Eldersburg, MD, died Thursday July 31, 2008 at Dove House. He was the spouse of 62 years to his childhood sweetheart Jean (Greiner) Denney of Eldersburg. He was born April 19, 1924 in Hopewell, OH the son of the late David F. Denney and late Lula Belle Cochran Denney. Mr. Denney was a retired accountant for Knox Glass and had also worked for John S. Wilson Lumber . Mr. Denney was a WWII Veteran and a just celebrated 60 years as a Mason. He was a member of Freedom Masonic Lodge # 112. He was also a member of Sykesville American Legion Post #273. A member of Wesley Freedom United Methodist Church. An avid crossword puzzle enthusiast. He was known as “Speed” on his softball team back in Zanesville, OH when growing up. Surviving in addition to his wife are Daughters and Son-in-laws Shelby J. and Bill Bacon of Ocean City, MD, Shirley L. and Frank Griffin of Sykesville, MD Son and Daughter-in-law Russell “Rusty” and Terry Denney lf Woodbine Sister: Waneva Ardrey of Livonia, MI Brother of Richard Denney of Columbus, OH Sister-in-law and brother-in-law Kathy and Dick Tarbert of Zainsville, OH Grandchildren: Doug and Michael Gorr, Tammy Whiteman, Troy Griffin, Christy and TJ Denney and 7 great-grandchildren. Memorial Services will be held on Sunday August 3, 2008 2PM at Wesley Freedom United Methodist Church, 961 Johnsville Rd. Eldersburg, MD 21784 with the family receiving friends from 1:30 PM until time of Service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Dove House c/o Carroll Hospice 292 Stoner Ave Westminster, MD 21157.
