Died Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
He was the Loving Husband of Anne K. (Carter) McCarty.
Mr. McCarty was born November 8, 1921 the son of the late Arthur W. McCarty and Late Anna Lee (Grimes) McCarty He was a veteran of US Army Air Corp Flying B17 bombers as a bombardier for which he received the Distinguished Flying Cross for disengaging a live bomb out of the hatch. Member of Washington Carpenters Union where he was a Superintendent. Member of Mt. Heburn A.F. and A.M. Loved to play golf and was a member of the Hope Valley Senior Golf League. He enjoyed volunteering at the Mt. Airy Volunteer Fireman’s Carnival in the Coke Stand, Enjoyed his family and was the biggest fan at his grandchildren’s sporting events, was a Proud American, Loved Poker, long car rides and had 3 Holes in One.
Surviving are Children: Russell Patrick and wife Sharon McCarty of Mt. Airy, Michael Lee McCarty of Mt. Airy, Elizabeth Anne and Husband Michael Heard of Mt. Airy, Thomas Glen and wife Shari McCarty of Winfield, Grandchildren Gregory H and wife Kimberly McCarty, Rebecca Leigh McCarty, Shannon Smalts, Heidi Michele and husband Jason Cloutier, Matthew Michael Heard, Christopher Thomas and wife Kendra Heard, Jack Butler McCarty, Benjamin Robert McCarty, Adam Joseph McCarty.
Great-Grandchildren: Maya McCarty, Sienna Rose Neuman, Steven and Justin Smalts, Connor, Ethan and Grace Cloutier, Victoria, Kathleen, Alicia and Jarrett Heard. Preceded in death by Sisters Doris Coggins and Lois Sancomb
Funeral Services will be held Friday December 14, 2012 11 AM at BURRIER-QUEEN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21771 Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Mt Airy, MD the family will receive friends Thursday December 13, 2012 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home.
