Ruth Elaine Likes, 88, of Westminster, Maryland passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family on January 14, 2024. She was born on January 12, 1936 in Baltimore, Maryland. She was the daughter of the late Maxwell Likes and Isobelle (Thorpe) Likes. Ms. Likes was a graduate of Seton High School and attended Mount Saint Mary's College and Seminary in Emmittsburg. In her younger years, she was a secretary at John Eppler Barrel Company. She then became the office manager for Leaseway Transportation. She also worked for Mt. Washington Veterinary Hospital.
In her spare time, she enjoyed bowling, playing softball and bicycling. She was an avid Colts/Ravens, Orioles and Maryland Terrapins fan. She was a pet lover who had many cats and dogs throughout her life and treated them all as family. Her faith was very important to her and she was active in her church. She was a member of the Women’s Sodality at Sacred Heart of Glyndon and Holy Family of Randallstown. She was also a member of the St. Vincent De Paul Society serving those in need. She loved spending time with her family at gatherings and especially enjoyed eating Maryland crabs.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her nephew, Ronnie Davis. Surviving her are sister Barbara Burgess of Westminster, nieces Kathleen Sullivan and her husband Paul of Westminster, Bonnie Cheak and her husband Chuck of Westminster and Lynn Johnson and her husband Shawn of Finksburg. She is also survived by great-nieces and nephews Steven, Jason, Nick, Kandace, Ryan, Ashley, Christa, Mandy, Becky, Michael, Amber, Randy, Eric and Chad. Also survived by numerous great-great nieces and nephews. Additional relatives include Tom Sr., Elaine Ann, Tom Jr., and Laura Lynn Trott, Betty and Dolores Haspert; and longtime friend Ann Robb.
The family will receive friends on Monday, January 22, 2024 from 11am until 12 noon at which time services will be held at
