Sherry A. Clagett (nee Banks) of New Windsor, MD, died Saturday, December 4, 2021, at the age of 73 at Golden Crest Assisted Living in Hampstead, MD.

She was born June 30, 1948, in Baltimore, MD the daughter of the late James and Thelma Banks. Sherry was the wife of the late Manley “Jim” Clagett of fifty years.

Sherry was a lifelong educator. She spent her life dedicated to the growth of youth and encouraged each young person to explore their every potential. Sherry was a permeant substitute and special education instructional assistant at South Carroll High School for thirty-four years. She taught private instrumental music in her home for over twenty-five years and helped numerous young musicians earn All County and All State Band honors. Sherry also taught crocheting and patterns in the evening through the adult education program. She was a passed PTO volunteer and PTO President at Winfield Elementary School. Sherry spent years as a 4-H leader and volunteer at the local, county and state levels. Sherry founded the Black Panther Winfield 4-H club and the Natural Resource Depart at the Carroll County 4-H and FFA Fair. She became an FFA Advisory and Lifelong Honorary Member for the South Carroll FFA Chapter. She was able to coach and lead numerous teams to state and national competitions. Sherry frequently volunteered as a chaperon for national 4-H, FFA, and Maryland Junior Hereford shows and competitions around the country. Sherry believed that every “kid” just needed the opportunity and support to grow and learn.

Surviving are her daughters Kelly Clagett-Garvick of Westminster and Tracy Clagett-Brosenne of New Windsor. Son-in-laws Michael Garvick and David Brosenne. Grandchildren Kody Garvick, Emily Gamber, James Garvick, Kathleen Brosenne, and Nichole Brosenne. Sherry also claimed Mike Dragonuk, Dana Coleman, Meg Brosenne, Robert Condon, and Amy Brueckman as the “children or her heart.” Along with many well-loved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive family and friends on Friday, December 10, 2021, from 3-5 and 7-9 at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, P.A. 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784 (Beside South Carroll High School); Where the Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at 9:30 AM with Pastor Bob Tousey officiating.

Interment will follow at Lake View Memorial Park.
