Shirley Evans

Shirley Marie Carroll Evans, 69 of Mt. Airy, MD, entered into eternal life on December 27, 2014, surrounded by her loving family.
Born January 5, 1945 in Dinwiddie County, VA, she was the daughter of the late Norman F. Loftis and Alice A. Williams. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Gary Friesner Evans. Shirley is also survived by her daughters Holly Colette Lakel of Powhatan, VA and Julianna Gabrielle Burnside of York, PA, their husbands Dr. William Andrew Lakel III and Michael Lee Burnside, grandchildren William Andrew Lakel IV, Johnathan Evan Lakel and Blake Michael Burnside. She is also survived by her brother Frank Loftis and two sisters Mary Katherine Gammon and Phyllis Williamson, their husbands, Russell Gammon and Bernard Williamson, sister-in-law Dianne Conwell and numerous nieces and nephews.
She retired from University of Maryland Medical Center in 2012 where she was the practice manager for The Faculty Physicians Clinic. She loved spending time with her family and friends, reading, gardening, ,sewing and crafts. She enjoyed vacationing at the Outer Banks and US. Virgin Islands.
Friends and family are invited to join in the celebration of her life on Friday, January 2, 2015 at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA, 1212 W.
