Sidney C. Dennis, age 91 of Hampstead, Maryland passed away Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Long View Health Care Center after a long fight with Parkinson’s. Born April 10, 1927 on Old Court Road in Granite, Maryland, he was the son of the late Clarence and Mildred Dennis (nee Larkin), and was the husband of the late Daisy M. Dennis, (nee Rollins). They resided for over fifty years on Liberty Road, Randallstown/Harrisonville before his moving to Hampstead. He grew up on Acme and Summit Avenues in Granite and worked at Woodstock College Seminary during his teenage years graduating from Catonsville High School in 1944. He was retired from Amoco where he worked as Maintenance Mechanic and Supervisor for the Baltimore Region for 42 years.

An Army Veteran he served in Germany during World War II and was extremely proud of his service. Sidney was a life member of the Liberty Road Volunteer Fire Company where he served as Lieutenant, Captain, and Chairman of the Board. He also belonged to American Legion Post 200 in Hampstead and VFW Post 521 in Owings Mills. He was a member of the Amoco Alumni Group and active in the Maryland Fire Chiefs Association. He was a past member of the Randallstown Lions Club. He was also involved for many years with the Baltimore County Volunteer Fireman’s Association and was inducted into the Hall of Fame. He was also involved with the Maryland State Fireman’s Association.

Surviving are his sister Peggy Lewis of Libertytown, son Charles Dennis and his wife Sandy of Hampstead, MD., Denise Schwartz and her husband Thomas of Sykesville, MD., and Darlene Schwartz and her husband Edmund of Spring Grove, PA. In addition are grandchildren Michael Dennis of Manchester, Thomas Schwartz Jr. and his wife Amanda of Sykesville, Diana Arnold of Hampstead, Edmund Schwartz Jr. and wife Monica of Hanover, PA, Kathy Carroll and husband Jeff of Hampstead, and Mary Schwartz Hoffman and husband Matt, of Sykesville. Along with Great Grandchildren, Jackson and Owen Dennis, Juliana, Sara, and Hannah Arnold, Braden and Jacie Buller, Emma and Fred Schwartz, Andrew, Alexandra and Ryan Carroll. He was predeceased by a sister Mildred Lages, and a great grand-daughter Annelise Schwartz.

Family will receive friends on Monday, May 21, 2018 from 3-5 & 7-9 PM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA., 1212 W.
