Thelma M. Krantz (1940-2023)
Thelma Marian (Lindsay) Krantz, 82, of Mount Airy, Maryland, passed away on July 12, 2023.
Thelma was born on October 30, 1940 in York, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Albert Norman Lindsay, Jr. and Thelma Marion (MacAdams) Lindsay. Thelma spent most of her early years in Mount Wolf, Pennsylvania and Hagerstown, Maryland. In her teenage years, she and her family moved to Myersville, Maryland. Thelma was a 1958 graduate of Middletown High School.
On February 10, 1962, Thelma married Kenneth Edward Krantz. To this union, two children (Debra and Kenneth, Jr.) were born.
Thelma and Ken initially lived in the Norfolk/Portsmouth area of Virginia while Ken was completing his service with the US Navy. They briefly moved to Mount Airy, Maryland before settling in the Greenwood Acres neighborhood of Annapolis. Thelma spent the majority of the next 35 years in Annapolis.
She was initially a stay at home Mom, but eventually went to work for Honeywell and later Alliant Techsystems. She also had a part time job with Dick Schultz Printing.
After retiring in 1998, Thelma made her home in the Watersville area of Mount Airy. She engaged in numerous clubs and organizations during her retirement. Activities included: the Red Hat Society, the Mount Airy 55+ Club, the Women’s Auxiliary of the Mount Airy Fire Company, and being a member and choir member of the Howard Chapel Ridgeville United Methodist Church.
Thelma will always be remembered for her strong faith, devotion to family, being very talented in photography, putting together numerous photo albums and scrapbooks, her excellent cooking, being a very good conversationalist and listener. She was known as Mom to her kids and Mom-Mom to her Grandkids.
Thelma was preceded in death by her daughter Debra Steward on April 2, 2020; and her brother A. Norman Lindsay III on June 29, 2020.
Thelma is survived by: her husband Ken of Mount Airy; her son Ken (Judy) Krantz, Jr of Crownsville; her son-in-law William Bruce Steward of Sterling, VA; three Grandsons Joseph Krantz, Adam Krantz and Patrick Steward ; two Step Grandsons Jess (Anna) Jacobson, and Seth Jacobson; two step Great Grandchildren Rowan and Kiernan; one brother Alex (Sue) Lindsay; two additional sister-in-laws Beverly Richardson and Linda Lindsay; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 18, 2023 from 11 Am to 12noon when services will take place at BURRIER-QUEEN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, P.A., 1212 West Old Liberty Rd. Sykesville, MD 21784
