Thomas Penn

Thomas “Tom” M. G. Penn, 87 of New Freedom, PA, passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Rest Haven of York.
Mr. Penn was born on a farm near Mt. Airy, MD on May 25, 1936. He was the son of the late Milton Gosnell Penn and the late Hazel E. Penn (nee Warfield).
Mr. Penn was a 1954 graduate of Mt. Airy High School. He then graduated from the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy in 1959. He was the owner of New Freedom Pharmacy from 1960 until1976. During that time, he served 2 years in the United States Army in Frankfort, Germany. From 1976 to 1990, he worked as a pharmacist in Union Bridge, MD. He retired from pharmacy in 1990; he then worked for the USPS in York, PA until his retirement in 1998.
He was a member of Mt. Olive Cemetery, Inc, and the Historical Society of Mt. Airy, the Rose Fire Co.#1of New Freedom, PA, VFW, and DAV.
He was a student at the “Rush Limbaugh Institute for Advanced Conservative Studies”, there are no graduates!
Mr. Penn was predeceased by brother Monte Brooke Penn, sister Nancy May Moss, (3) nephews Clinton Oscar Moss, Peery Moss, and Lance Penn and (1) niece Billie Rose Tabler. Tom is survived by a niece Sallie Moss, 1 nephew and numerous great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 24, 2024, from 10 -11 AM with the funeral service beginning at 11 AM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A. 1212 West Old Liberty Road Sykesville, MD 21784 (Beside South Carroll High School).
Interment at Mt. Olive United Methodist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Olive Cemetery, Inc. 2927 Gillis Falls Road Mt. Airy, MD 21771.
