Velma Ann Tucker (nee Divers) , age 75 of Sykesville, MD, Died Thursday, February 23, 2023 at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster, MD
She was born November 18, 1947 in Roanoke, VA. She was the daughter of the late James Alfred (Pop-Pop) Divers and the late Velma Romaine (Mom-Mom) Divers (nee Duvall). She was the wife of the late James R. Tucker.
Velma was a 1965 graduate from Mt. Airy High School and in 1968 immediately started working at Springfield Hospital Center, Crownsville Hospital, and Spring Grove Hospital in MD for many years as a registered nurse. She enjoyed spending time camping, crocheting, visiting family and friends near and far, and site seeing different places up and down the East Coast. Velma is survived by her brother , Alan R. Divers and wife, Nancy of CA. Daughter Jennifer Hall and husband the late Manwell “ Manny “Hall of MD. Step-daughter NaTasha Tucker Cortes-Caja and her husband Cesar Cortez-Caja of WV. Also survived by grandchildren Shiann Hall , Jamison Hall, Samantha Cortez-Caja and Jaslyn Cortez-Caja.
Family and friends may call at the BURRIER-QUEEN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, P.A., 1212 West Old Liberty Rd. Sykesville, MD (Beside South Carroll High School) on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 from 2 -4 PM and 7-9 PM ; Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at 11 AM with the Revs. William and Richard Ronk officiating.
Interment will be in Taylorsville Cemetery; following the interment fellowship/luncheon will be at BURRIER-QUEEN FUNERAL HOME MULTI-PURPOSE ROOM.
