Verdia I. Phillips (nee Funderburk), 103, of Sykesville, MD passed away on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 surrounded by her family.
She was the wife of the late Harod W. Phillips.
She was born February 25, 1918, in Ruby, SC the daughter of the late Robert Frank Funderburk and the late Lily Jane Funderburk (nee Stanley).
She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, sewing, playing games, doing puzzles, and loved doing word searches. Was a die-hard Baltimore Orioles fan. She loved her family especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter Nina Abrams and her son Charles Phillips and wife Mary Phillips and her daughter-in-law Barbara Phillips. Loving sister of Jeri Smith. Devoted grandmother of Lori Moser & husband Wesley, Carri Rightmyer & husband Will, Helen Pugliese & husband Sal, Diana O’Neal & husband Alton, Judith Wantz & husband Paul, Matthew Phillips, and William Phillips & wife Carol. Loving great-grandmother of Tyler, Kendall, Amber, Ryan, Kayla, Emily, Jon, Catie, David, Caleb, Christina, Kim, Stone, Gage, Camden and 11 great-great grandchildren and her loving niece Sue Hayes and numerous other family.
She was preceded in death by her son William Phillips and son-in-law Roland Abrams and her 6 siblings.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 29, 2021 from 3-5 & 7-9 PM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A. 1212 West Old Liberty Road Winfield, MD 21784 (beside South Carroll High School). Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 10 AM at Elders Baptist Church 1216 Liberty Road Sykesville, MD 21784.
Interment to follow Cedar Hill Cemetery.
