Virginia Blythe (Sanford) Grim, age 95 of Mount Airy, MD, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2016 at Constant Care at Winfield, Sykesville, MD. The beloved wife of Gerald Mervin Grim, “Ginny” was born Feb. 19, 1921, in Syracuse, NY to Bessie Sarah (Blyth) and Charles Henry Sanford. In addition to her main job of caring for her husband of 74 years and five children, she worked for the Navy Dept. during WWII, for Johns Hopkins University after children were older, and had several music students until health became an issue. She was a graduate of Bethlehem Central HS in Delmar, NY, Bryant College, Providence, RI, and Towson State University, with a degree in Music Composition and Theory (magna cum laude). An avid reader and eager learner, Ginny took many college level Bible courses over the years, and was known for taking notes in shorthand, and bringing her Greek (not English!) Bible to church services. A skilled sewer early on (including her wedding gown), quilting became a great love of hers—even winning ribbons at the county fair. Music was extremely important to Ginny, who played piano, organ, cornet, violin, and viola. From arranging to composing, the local church choirs and instrumental groups through the years were the beneficiaries of her talents, not to mention the congregations. A believer in the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior, Ginny has now joined son, John Gilbert Grim, in Heaven. She is survived by her sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Ada Adams, 99, of Delmar, NY, children, Gail Kathleen Stuart, Charles Earl Grim and wife, Laura, Shelley Elizabeth Covington and husband, Roger, Bessie Blythe Neubauer and husband, Steve, 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss her cheerful and lively demeanor. Services will be conducted at Winfield Bible Chapel, 5407 Woodbine Rd., Woodbine, MD 21797 on Saturday, Dec. 10th at 10:00 a.m., with Pastor Kim Gee officiating. Interment will be immediately following at Parkwood Cemetery, 3310 Taylor Ave., Baltimore, MD 21234. The family will receive friends at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home, 1212 West Old Liberty Rd., Sykesville, MD 21784 from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9. Those desiring may make contributions to the Baltimore Rescue Mission, PO Box 735, 4 N. Central Ave., Baltimore, MD 21203 in the name of Mrs. Gerald M. Grim.
