Services will be held at 1 p.m. for Waddell Thomas Sims (Simmie) age 83 at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, Maryland 21784 . He was a resident of Columbia, S.C. for over four decades. He died on Sunday morning, December 3, 2017 at the WJB Dorn VA hospital in South Carolina.
Born in Carroll County, he was the son of the late James Thomas Waddell Sims (Buck) and Mary Gladys Woodyard. He spent twenty years in the U.S. Army. After his retirement from military service, he settled down in Columbia, S.C. with his late wife Pearl A. Sims and took up the trade of upholstering for an automobile upholstery shop.
Surviving are the following: his sister, Catherine Washington, his sons, Thomas, Robert, Anthony, Richard Sims; his two daughters, Tanya Pittman, Cheryl Sims; his grandchildren Robert Jr. and Patricia Sims; his great-grandchildren Delonte Sims and Nigel Hernandez; his sister-in-law, Patricia Hutchins; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to morn him.
