William Carroll
July 17, 1935 — August 12, 2021
On July 17, 1935, William Frederick Carroll, Sr. (Bill) was born in Wolfsville, Maryland to parents Jack V. Carroll and Margaret P. Leiboldt. He was the 3rd child born in the family which included siblings Jake, June, and Gayle.
Bill met future wife Betty Ann Mullinix at Howard High School. They married on July 31, 1955. Their family was blessed with three children: Brenda, Rita, and William Jr. Bill Resided in Catonsville with his family for over 40 years before moving to Woodbine in 2001.
Bill began his career as a machinist in 1962 at the Baltimore Sun papers and retired after 35 years of service.
Bill served in the Army in the Korean War from 1958-1964. He was honorably discharged with an SP4 rank. Bill was devoted to his family and enjoyed motorcycling, hunting, boating, crabbing, and fishing. He loved the outdoors and looked forward to routine trips to his cabin in Potter County, PA. and especially loved yard sales. He could be seen all over Carroll County on Saturday mornings.
On August 12, 2021, Bill passed away at the age of 86 at Northwest Hospital Hospice Care Center.
Bill is survived by his children Brenda Carroll, Rita Dougherty and husband Cris, and William Carroll, Jr., and fiancée LaRue.
He also leaves behind beloved grandchildren Amber (Wayne), Casey, Jake (Heather), and Alycia; great grandchildren Kaylee and Chloe; and other treasured family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty Carroll, his parents and his siblings Jake Carroll, June Affeldt, and Gayle Kelly. He will be missed by many.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at Grace Bible Baptist Church at 1518 Rolling Road, Catonsville, MD 21228 at 12:00 Noon; with a Gathering of family and friends from 11:00 AM-12:00 Noon; with a reception to follow at the Church after service on Thursday, August 19, 2021, with Rev. Jerry R. Harmon officiating,
