William David Ross Farquharson Jr., age 88 of Sykesville, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 1st, 2024.
He was the surviving husband of Joan Irwin Farquharson, married for 65 years, and was born on March 10th 1936 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Ross was a devoted and faithful husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He selflessly served God, family, and country for a lifetime. Putting others before himself made him the man he was and the man we all knew and loved. However, we also know that playing golf was his true passion and he enjoyed working to improve his score while earning at least one hole-in one along the way. So many of his friends and family came to share his love of the game all while playing at his side.
Surviving are his 5 children, Janet I. McCurdy, David Ross Farquharson and wife, Karla (deceased), Paul N. Farquharson and wife, Kelly, Virginia A. Voyack and husband, Frank, and Peter W. Farquharson and wife, Marita. He loved his 16 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the Fairhaven Chapel, 7200 Third Avenue, Sykesville, Maryland on November 17, 2024 at 1:00pm with Reverend Loree Penner presiding.
Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
