William Allen (“Bill”) Jent, 100, of Fort Pierce, FL, formerly of Reisterstown, MD, passed away peacefully at his home on May 22, 2024. Born on April 4, 1924, in Cleveland, OH, he was the eldest son of Otto Jent and Beatrice Jent (nee Breyley).

Bill is survived by his daughter, Debra O'Neill. He was a proud grandfather to

Angela (Jason) Bailey, Ryan (Stephanie) O’Neill, Erin (Craig) Cummings, Shaun (Kristen) O’Neill, Shannon (Alan) Myers, Meghan (Jason) Witte and a beloved great-grandfather to

Riley, Dylan, Delaney, Avery, Alaina, Adam, Scott, Alyssa, Brody, Ashlyn, Carter, Kyle, Ainsley and Stella. He was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis, his son Jerry, and his brothers Lawrence and Robert.

A WWII veteran, Bill served honorably as a Major in the USAF, 325th Bombardment Squadron. Following his distinguished military service, he built a successful career as a programmer at Telemecanique. Upon retirement, he enjoyed working at Frank’s Nursery and Glyndon Gardens.

Bill was an avid bowler, participating in league play several evenings a week up to his 100th birthday. He recently celebrated becoming a centenarian surrounded by his closest family and friends. His hobbies included painting ceramics, building model airplanes, creating string art, and watching classic military television shows. Bill will be fondly remembered for his generosity, humor, wit, and candor.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 7, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., 1212 West Old Liberty Road, Sykesville, MD 21784 (beside South Carroll High School). Funeral services will immediately follow at Lake View Memorial Park, 2724 Liberty Road, Sykesville, MD 21784.
